Nigerian Bourse closes lower by 0.47%, sheds N62bn

Transactions on the floor on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index closed lower by 0.47% to settle at 25,215.04 points from the previous close of 25,335.15 points on Tuesday.

Market Capitalisation closed at N13.154 trillion, down by 0.47% from the previous close of N13.216 trillion, thereby shedding N62 billion.

An aggregate of 266.65 million units of shares were traded in 3,978 deals, valued at N3.18 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed firm as 19 equities appreciated in their share prices against 19 equities that declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Prestige Assurance and Berger Paints both led the percentage gainers with 10% growth, closing at N0.77 and N7.70 respectively.

Neimeth Pharmaceuticals grew its share price by 9.96% to close at N2.34 from the previous close of N2.13.

Mutual Benefit Assurance and Royal Exchange Assurance among others gainers both grew their share prices by 9.09% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

C&I Leasing led other price decliners as it sheds 9.43% of its share price to close at N4.80 from the previous close of N5.30.

UACN, Japaul Oil and Red Star Express among other price decliners also shed 9.09%, 8.00% and 7.30% of their share prices respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 69.41 million units of its shares in 314 deals, valued at N1.68 billion.
  • Mutual Benefit Assurance traded about 51.76 million units of its shares in 152 deals, valued at N12.39 million.
  • First Bank of Nigeria Holdings (FBNH) traded about 31.2 million units of its shares in 242 deals, valued at N167.67 million.
