Wema Bank led 19 other stocks despite market decline of 0.76%

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed lower on Thursday, bringing the market to its fourth straight losses for the week as the All Share Index declined 0.76% closing at 36,470.05 points as against the previous close of 36,748.18 points.

Market capitalisation also declined by 0.76% closing at N13.211 trillion, as against N13.312 trillion of the previous trading session implying a loss of N101 billion

Volume and value of traded stocks appreciated by 63.61% and 196.39%, standing at 296.5 million units and N4.862 billion respectively.

Market Breadth

20 stocks closed positive while 27 stocks lost, bringing the market breadth to a negative round off.

Percentage Gainers

Wema Bank led other price percentage gainers closing 9.68% above the previous close of N0.62 to settle at N0.68
Oando grew 9.47% while Linkage Assurance, Niger Insurance and Dangote Sugar gained 8.22%, 8.00% and 6.56% of their share prices respectively.

Percentage Losers

ETRANZACT shed 9.89% of its share price, leading the losers’ chart. This is followed by Livestock and Tantalizer both lost 9.33% and 8.70% respectively, among other stocks on the losers’ chart.

Volume Drivers

Guaranty recorded the highest volume of traded stocks on Thursday, trading about 78.3 million units of its shares in 261 deals, valued at about N2.98 billion while Zenith Bank traded about 26.5 million units in 421 deals, worth about N608.9 million.
