Equities market extends gain with N79bn

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index rose further by 0.67% to settle at N23,021.01 points from the previous close of 22,868.40 points on Wednesday.

Investors gain about N79 billion as the market capitalisation grew by 0.66% to close at N11.997 trillion from the previous close of N11.918 trillion.

An aggregate of 359.46 million units of shares was traded in 4,946 deals, valued at N3.23 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 21 equities appreciated in their share prices while 13 equities declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Ardova Plc ( formerly Forte Oil) led other percentage gainers with 10% growth, closing at N11.55 from the previous close of N10.50.

University Press, Livestock Feeds and Caverton among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.28%, 7.69% and 7.39% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

At the close of trade 13 equities declined in their share prices. Prestige Assurance shed 9.09% of its share price to close at N0.50 from the previous close of N0.55.

This is followed by Courtville, Nigerian Breweries and Zenith Bank with 4.55%, 3.38% and 2.72% price decline respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

Access Bank traded about 64.60 million units of its shares in 397 deals, valued N421.47 million.

First Bank of Nigeria Holdings ( FBNH) traded about 62.94 million units of its shares in 443 deals, valued at N289.46 million.

Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 36.13 million units of its shares in 604 deals, valued at N759.52 million.
