Equity market closes lower by 0.01%, sheds N6bn

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.01% 30,738.92 points from the previous close of 30,741.88 points.

Market Capitalization declined by 0.04% to close at 16.062 trillion from the previous close of N16.068 trillion, thereby shedding N6 billion.

An aggregate of 430.12 million units of shares were traded in 4,319 deals, valued at N6.62 billion.

Market Breadth 

The market breadth closed positive as 18 equities gained while 17 equities declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Transcorp led other gainers with 9.86% growth to close at N0.78 from the previous close of N0.71.

Learn Africa, Africa Prudential and Livestock Feeds among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.52%, 9.35% and 8.99% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Linkage Assurance led other price decliners as it shed 8.89% of its share price to close at N0.41 from the previous close of N0.45.

ABC Transport and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 8.82% and 8.11% respectively.

Volume Drivers

First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc traded about 61.49 million units of its shares in 170 deals, valued at N390.6 million.

BUA Cement traded about 50.28 million units of its shares in 39 deals, valued at N2.28 billion.

Access Bank traded about 46.24 million units of its shares in 239 deals, valued at N373.7 million.
