Market dips by 0.36% as BUA Cement, MTN shed weight

The Nigerian equity market on Monday closed on a bearish note occasioned by losses in the share prices of BUA Cement and MTN by 0.70% and 0.61% respectively.

The All Share Index declined by 0.36% to settle at 37,857.89 points from the previous close of 37,994.19 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.36% to close at N19.725 trillion from the previous close of N19.796 trillion, thereby shedding N71 billion.

An aggregate of 187.24 million units of shares were traded in 4,017 deals, valued at N2.89 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 16 equities appreciated in their share prices against 13 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Tripple Gee led other gainers with 9.89% growth, closing at N1 from the previous close of N0.91.

Regency Assurance, UDPC and FTN Cocoa among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.89%, 7.44% and 5.88% respectively.

Percentage Losers

CWG led other price decliners as it shed 9.52% of its share price to close at N1.14 from the previous close of N1.26.

International Breweries and Champion Breweries among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 5.66% and 3.23% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 35.32 million units of its shares in 473 deals, valued at N870.87 million.

Sovereign Trust Insurance traded about 14.15 million units of its shares in 25 deals valued at N3.946 million.

UBA traded about 14.11 million units of its shares in 192 deals, valued at N106 million.
