Market closes lower by 0.38% amidst profit taking

The Nigerian Exchange on Wednesday closed on a bearish note occasioned by profit taking in 33 equites by investors.

The All Share Index declined by 0.38% to close at 46,930.66 points from the previous close of 47,111.21 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.39% to close at N25.289 trillion from the previous close of N25.387 trillion, thereby shedding N98 billion.

An aggregate of 434.95 million units of shares were traded in 5,878 deals, valued at N6.26 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 21 equities emerged as gainers against 33 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Ikeja Hotel led other gainers with 10% growth, closing at N1.43 from the previous close of N1.30.

Conoil and Academy Press among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.96% and 9.71% respectively.

Percentage Losers

ABC Transport led other price decliners as it shed 8.33% of its share price to close at N0.33 from the previous close of N0.36.

Courteville and Carverton among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.90% and 6.17%.

Volume Drivers

Fidelity Bank traded about 47.74 million units of its shares in 231 deals, valued at N136.72 million.

Transcorp traded about 35.59 million units of its shares in 184 deals, valued at N40.87 million

Courteville traded about 32.46 million units of its shares in 71 deals, valued at N17.75 million.
