Stock market closes lower by 0.01% amidst profit taking

The Nigerian stock market on Thursday closed on a bearish note as the All Share Index depreciated marginally by 0.01% to close at 39,201.33 points from the previous close of 39,204.52 points.

The Market Capitalisation dropped slightly to N20.425 trillion from the previous close of N20.426 trillion, shedding about N1bn.

An aggregate of 350.53 million units of shares were traded in 3,523 deals, valued at N3.35 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 9 equities appreciated in their share prices against 21 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Chams Plc led other gainers with 4.76% growth, closing at N0.22 from the previous close of N0.21.

UBA, Cutix and Oando among other gainers also grew their share prices by 4.67%, 4.60% and 3.08% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Cornerstone Insurance led other price decliners as it shed 7.69% of its share price, closing at N0.48 from the previous close of N0.52.

AIICO and Learn Africa among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.86% and 5.56% respectively.

Volume Drivers

FBNH traded about 97.73 million units of its shares in 111 deals, valued at N729.64 million.

Wema Bank traded about 74.86 million units of its shares in 85 deals valued at N58.48 million.

Access Bank traded about 47.75 million units of its shares in 291 deals, valued at N451.17 million.
