Market closes lower by 0.01%, sheds N3bn

The Nigerian stock market on Tuesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined marginally by 0.01% to close at 42,388.57 points from the previous close of 42,394.71 points.

The Market Capitalisation was down marginally by 0.01% to close at N22.126 trillion from the previous close of N22.129 trillion, thereby shedding N3 billion.

An aggregate of 275.93 million units of shares were traded in 3,489 deals, valued at N3.94 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 21 equities emerged as gainers against 15 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Meyer Plc led the gainers chart with 9.52% growth, closing at N0.46 from the previous close of N0.42.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance and CAP Plc among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.26% and 6.87% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Eterna Plc led other price decliners as as it sheds 9.91% of its share price to close at N5 from the previous close of N5.55.

MRS and Japaul Gold among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.85% and 7.69% respectively.  

Volume Drivers

UACN traded about 75.88 million units of its shares in 48 deals, valued at N720.79 million.

FBNH traded about 68.56 million units of its shares in 191 deals, valued at N836.41 million.

UBA traded about 16.72 million units of its shares in 142 deals, valued at N133.78 million.
