The Nigerian equities market for the 6th consecutive trading session this year has been on the upward trend as the All Share Index on Thursday grew by 2.92%, closing at 29,395.57 points away from the previous close of 28,562.48 points.
Market capitalisation grew by 9.99%, to close at N15.164 trillion away from the previous close of N13.787 trillion. The listing of BUA Cement on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange could be traceable to high growth in market capitalization, hitting N15 trillion.
Volume of traded stocks closed at 693.2 million units, down by 6.56% away from the previous close of 741.82 million units.
The value of traded stocks was down by 19.22%, closing at N7.44 billion from the previous close of N9.22 billion.
Total number of deals at the close of trade was 6,634, down by 12.96% against the previous close of 7,622 deals on Wednesday.
Market Breadth
The market Breadth closed positive as 22 stocks gained while 21 stocks declined in their share prices.
Percentage Gainers
Champion Breweries and Sovereign Trust Insurance both led the gainers’ list with 10% growth, closing at N0.99 and N0.22 respectively.
Presco Plc, Wapic Insurance, May & Baker and Livestock Feeds among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.71%, 8.57%, 8.50% and 8.00% respectively.
Percentage Losers
Unity Bank led other price decliners, shedding 10% of its share price to close at N0.72 from the previous close of N0.80.
Union Dicon Salt UPD Real Estate Investment Trust Plc among other price decliners both shed 9.88% of their share prices respectively.
Volume Drivers
- Wapic traded about 190.1 million units of its shares in 68 deals, valued at about N68.48 million.
- Transcorp traded about 82.8 million units of its shares in 138 deals, valued at N89.8 million.
- Zenith Bank traded about 80.78 million units of its shares in 836 deals, valued at N1.77 billion.
