Market sheds N16bn as NGXASI declines by 0.06% further

The equity market on Tuesday closed on a bearish note as the All Share Index declined further by 0.06% to settle at 51,556.54 points from the previous close of 51,586.50 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.06% to close at N27.795 trillion from the previous close of N27.811 trillion, thereby shedding N16 billion.

An aggregate of 135 million units of shares were traded in 3,745 deals, valued at N1.439 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 17 equities appreciated in their share prices against 16 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Academy Press led other gainers with 9.79% growth to close at N1.57 from the previous close of N1.43.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance, JAPAULOLD, UPDCREIT and CHAMS Plc among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.70%, 7.41%, 4.35% and 4.17% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Champion Breweries and Nem Insurance led other price decliners as they shed 10.00% each of their share prices to close at N3.60 and N3.42 from the previous close of N4.00 and N3.80 respectively.

Union Bank of Nigeria and University Press among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.76%, 8.91% respectively.

Volume Drivers

GTCO traded about 13 million units of its shares in 413 deals, valued at N267 million.

UPDC traded about 12 million units of its shares in 91 deals, valued at about N15 million.

UBA traded about 10.5 million units of its shares in 141 deals, valued at N79 million.
