Market sheds N83bn as NGXASI closes lower by 0.29%

The equity market on Monday closed on a bearish note as the All Share Index dipped by 0.29% to settle at 52,994.09 points from the previous close of 53,098.46 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.29% to close at N28.453 trillion from the previous close of N28.626 trillion, thereby shedding N83 billion.

An aggregate of 374 million units of shares were traded in 6,854 deals, valued at N4.96 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 27 equities appreciated in their share prices against 20 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

MCNICHOLS led other gainers with 9.70% growth to close at N1.47 from the previous close of N1.34.

Northern Nigerian Flourmill, TRANSCORP and WAPIC among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.55%, 8.53% and 7.14% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Champion Breweries led other price decliners, as it shed 9.84% of its share price to close at N3.94 from the previous close of N4.37.

Glaxosmith, International Breweries and NEIMETH among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.49%, 9.09% and 8.33% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Transcorp traded about 88 million units of its shares in 305 deals, valued at about N119 million.

ACCESSCORP traded about 29 million units of its shares in 233 deals, valued at N278.6 million.

International Breweries traded about 16 million units of its shares in 296 deals, valued at N130 million.
