Stock market sustains uptrend by 0.31%, investors gain N43bn

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index grew further by 0.31% to settle at 25,654.90 points from the previous close of 25,574.35 points.

Investors gain N43 billion as market capitalisation appreciated by 0.32% to close at N13.408 trillion from the previous close of N13.365 trillion.

An aggregate of 262 million units of shares were traded in 3,254 deals, valued at N4.4 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 9 stocks gained while 17 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Red Star Express led other gainers with 9.80% growth, closing at N3.25 from the previous close of N2.96.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance and Trans Nationwide Express among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.68% and 9.33% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Union Bank led other price decliners as it shed 6.54% of its share price to close at N5.00 from the previous close of N5.35.

Cornerstone Insurance and Linkage Assurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.25% and 5.00% respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • Zenith Bank Plc traded about 45.88 million units of its shares in 371 deals, valued at N766.27 million.
  • FBN Holdings Plc traded about 24.14 million units of its shares in 201 deals, valued at N119.5 million.
  • Transcorp Plc traded about 20.97 million units of its shares in 39 deals, valued at N12.55 million.
