Nigerian Bourse halts 3 days of straight gains, closes 0.97% lower

The Nigerian stock market on Wednesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index closed lower by 0.97% to settle at 27,319.64 points against the previous close of 27,586.79 points on Tuesday.

Market capitalisation closed at N13.291 trillion, shedding N130 billion from the previous close of N13.421 trillion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks closed at 250.45 million units, valued at N3.19 billion in 3,219 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 13 stocks gained while 19 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

UACN led the gainers’ list, gaining 9.89% of its share price to close at N5.00 from the previous close of N4.55.

UAC Properties, Africa Prudential Plc, Linkage Assurance and International Breweries among others also grew their share prices by 9.76%, 8.82%, 8.33% and 8.18% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Guinness Nigeria, Ikeja Hotel, Forte Oil and UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust among other price decliners also shed 9.90%, 9.79%, 9.73% and 9.26% of their share prices respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Access Bank traded about 81.85 million units of its shares in 210 deals, valued at N542.3 million.
  •  WAPCO (Lafarge Africa) traded about 40.65 million units of its shares in 101 deals, valued at N587.4 million.
