Nigerian Stock market dips further, closes 1.86% lower

The Nigerian equities market on Thursday shed more weight as the All Share Index declined further by 1.86% to close at 28,712.90 points against the previous close of 29,256.60 points on Wednesday.

Market capitalisation closed at N13.993 trillion, shedding N265 billion from the previous close of N14.258 trillion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks for the day was 188.43 million units, valued at N3.17 billion in 3,105 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 10 stocks gained while 18 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc gained 4.76% at the close of trade today, leading other gainers. It closed at N0.21from the previous close of N0.22.

Courtville and Guaranty Trust Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 4.55% and 3.27% respectively.

Percentage Losers

AXA Mansard Insurance, Airtel Africa, CCNN and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance among other price decliners shed 10%, 9.99%, 9.70% and 9.09% of their share prices respectively.

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 21.1 million units of its shares in 235 deals, valued at N404.3 million.
