Bears’ Dominance Resumes as NSEASI Closes 0.40% Lower, Monday

The Nigerian equities market on Monday July 22nd was dominated by Bears, failing to consolidate on the positive trading session on Friday as the All Share Index today went down by 0.40%, to close at 27,808.69 points below the previous close of 27,919.50 points on Friday.

Market capitalisation closed at N13.553 trillion, shedding N54 billion from the previous’ N13.607 trillion last Friday.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks for the day was 285.7 million units, valued at N2.2 billion in 3,887 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 14 stocks gained while 19 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

Africa Prudential with 8.82% growth led gainers table to close at N3.70 above the previous close of N3.40. This is followed by UBA, Ikeja Hotel and Sovereign Insurance also grew their share prices by 8.18%, 6.57% and 4.76% respectively.

Percentage Losers

NASCON, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance and Linkage Assurance led others price decliners’ after shedding their share prices for the day by 10.00%, 9.68% and 9.38% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 16 million units of its shares in 374 deals, valued at N295.8 million
