Stock market extends down trend by 0.06%

It was yet another bearish session on the floor of the Nigerian stock market on Monday as downtrend extended to three straight sessions on profit taking by investors.

The All Share Index dropped by 0.06% to close at 66,876.92 points from the previous close of 66,915.41 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.06% to close at N66.742 trillion from the previous close of N36.764 trillion, thereby shedding N22 billion.

An aggregate of 314.6 million units of shares were traded in 6,133 deals, valued at N4.4 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 23 equities emerged as gainers against 21 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

THOMASWYAT led other gainers with 9.92% growth to close at N3.99 from the previous close of 3.63.

Academy Press and Ikeja Hotel among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.71% and 9.52% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Newly listed VFDGROUP led price decliners as it shed 9.99% of its share price to close at N242.40 from the previous close of N269.30.

MCNICHOLs and University Press among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.68% and 9.32% respectively.

Volume Drivers

ACCESSCORP traded about 40 million units of its shares in 475 deals, valued at N666.9 million.

UBA traded about 47 million units of its shares in 373 deals, valued at N900.7million.

FCMB traded about 29 million units of its shares in 198 deals, valued at N173.6 million.
