Stock market dips by 0.29% as 21 stocks shed weight

It was a bearish session on the floor of Nigerian stock market on Tuesday, occasioned by weight shedding in prices of 21 stocks. The All Share Index dipped by 0.29% to close at 48,879.74 points from the previous close of 49,024.16 points.

The Market Capitalisation closed at N26.373 trillion, down by 0.29% from the previous close of N26.451 trillion, thereby shedding N78 billion.

An aggregate of 173 million units of shares were traded in 4,926 deals, valued at N2.4 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 9 equities emerged as gainers against 21 equities that declined in their share prices.    

Percentage Gainers

MULTIVERSE led other gainers with 9.76% growth, closing at N4.05 from the previous close of N3.69 on Friday last week

RTBRISCOE, NGXGROUP and AIICO among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.82%, 7.50% and 5.77% respectively.

Percentage Losers

International Breweries led other price decliners, shedding 9.09% of its share price to close at N4.50 from the previous close of N4.95.

Redstar Express, Sovereign Trust Insurance, JAPAULGOLD and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 0ver 7%.

Volume Drivers

GTCO traded about 71 million units of its shares in 687 deals, valued at N1.26 billion.

Zenith Bank traded about 14 million units of its shares in 432 deals, valued at N283.9 million.

UBA traded about 10.7 million units of its shares in 296 deals, valued at N73 million.
