NSEASI stays 0.46% afloat, as most blue chip stocks closed higher or flat

The Nigerian Bourse on Wednesday closed positive, making it second straight gains in succession for the week as the All Share Index grew 0.46%, closing at 30,878.56 points from the previous close of 30,736.88 points on Tuesday.

Market capitalisation closed at N11.515 trillion, advancing by 0.46% from the previous close of N11.462 trillion, shedding N53 billion.

Volume of traded stocks soared by 52.96% closing at 376 million units above 245 million units it closed on Tuesday

The value of traded stocks also closed higher at N2.967 billion as against N2.443 billion recorded in the previous trading session, implying a growth of 21.47%.

Market Breadth

There was a balanced breadth at the close of the day’s trading session as 21 stocks gained against 10 that lost.

Percentage Gainers

First Aluminium led other percentage gainers, closing 9.68% above its previous close of N0.31 to settle at N0.34. This is followed by Fidelity Bank, which grew 9.57%. Union Diagnostic, Mutual Benefit, Sterling Bank and FCMB all closed the day above 4% of their share prices

Percentage Losers

RESORTSAL, Sovereign Insurance and UACN shed 8.33%, 4.55% and 4.49% respectively to lead others 7 stocks on the losers chart

Volume Drivers

Access Bank traded the highest volume of about 155 million units of its shares in 222 deals, valued at about N875 million.

Zenith Bank also traded about 31 million units of its shares in 418 deals, worth about N678 million.
