CAP, Forte Oil led other gainers, despite market decline of 0.25%, Wednesday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed in red as the All Share Index declined by 0.25%, closing at 30,642.35 points against the previous close of 30,718.72 points on Tuesday.

Market Capitalisation declined by 0.25% to close at N11.193 trillion against the previous close of N11.221 trillion, thereby shedding N28 billion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks grew by 14.28%, closing at 246.1 million units against the previous close of 215.38 million units on Tuesday.

Value of traded stocks grew by 8.73%, closing at N3.69 billion against the previous close of N3.4 billion on Tuesday.

Industrial sector closed higher by 0.58%; while Insurance, Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors declined by 2.04%, 0.92%, 0.24% and 0.09% respectively.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 24 stocks gained against 20 stocks that lost.

Percentage Gainers

CAP Plc with 10% growth tops the percentage gainers’ chart, closing at N34.65 from the previous close of N31.5

Forte Oil grew by 9.75% to close at N21.95 from the previous close of N20.

Japaul Oil, Champions Breweries, Prestige Assurance, Eterna Plc and AIICO Insurance gained 9.52%, 9.43%, 9.30%, 8.33% and 6.15% among other gainers on the day.

Percentage Losers

Conoil and Mansard both top the losers’ chart, shedding 10% of their share prices to close at N20.25 and N1.8 respectively.

Chams Plc, AG Leventis, Mobil and Dangote Sugar shed 9.09%, 7.41%, 5.50% and 5.38% respectively among other stocks on the losers’ chart.

Volume Drivers

  • Zenith Bank traded about 55.34 million units of its shares valued at N1.32 billion in 247 deals.
  • FBNH traded 54 million units of its shares valued at N398.16 million in 296 deals.
  • Guaranty Trust Bank about traded 17.75 million units of its shares valued at N614.4 million in 217 deals.
