NSEASI declines further, closes 0.48% lower, Wednesday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed in red as the All Share Index declined further by 0.48% to close at 31,023.47 points from the previous close of 31,173.71 points on Tuesday.

Market capitalisation declined by 0.48% to close at N11.326 trillion against the previous close of N11.381 trillion, shedding N55 billion.

Volume of traded stocks grew by 20.94% to close at 220.4 million units against the previous close of 182.23 million units.

Value of traded stocks declined by 1.00% to close at N2.73 billion against the previous close of N2.75 billion.

The Insurance and Consumer Goods sectors closed higher by 0.51% and 0.08% respectively while Banking, Oil & Gas and Industrial sectors declined by 0.17%, 0.79% and 0.42% respectively.

Market Breadth

Market Breadth closed negative as 12 stocks gained against 23 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

Continental Reinsurance led other percentage gainers, gaining 10% to close at N1.87 from the previous close of N1.7

May & Baker, Cutix Plc, PZ and AG Leventis grew 9.96%, 9.64%, 8.06% and 7.41% respectively among other percentage gainers.

Percentage Losers

Diamond Bank tops the losers’ chart, shedding 9.88% of its share price to close at N0.73 from the previous close of N0.81

NEM Insurance, Wema Bank, Neimeth, Unity Bank and Oando shed 8.85%, 8.77%, 6.67%, 6.41% and 6.06% respectively among others on the losers’ chart.

Volume Drivers 

 

  • Access Bank traded about 54.17 million units of its shares valued at about N385.4 million in 122 deals.
  • Nigerian Breweries traded about 10.69 million units of its shares in 161 deals valued at about N848.3 million
