Nigerian Bourse sheds N38bn, closes 0.30% lower

The Nigerian equities market on Thursday closed in red as the All Share Index dropped by 0.30% to close at 26,584.45 points against the previous close of 26,665.73 points on Wednesday.

 

Market Capitalisation declined by 0.30%, closing at N12.832 trillion against the previous close of N12.870 trillion, which implies a loss of N38 billion.

 

Aggregate volume of traded stocks settled at 304.2 million units, valued at N3.15 billion in 2,690 deals.

 

Market Breadth

The market Breadth closed positive as 14 stocks gained while 11 stocks declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Glaxosmith led other gainers with 9.52% growth to close at N5.75 from the previous close of N5.25.

A.G Leventis, Wema Bank, Wapic Insurance and Fidelity Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.70%, 7.14%, 5.88% and 5.77% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Cornerstone Insurance tops the price decliners’ list shedding 9.80% of its share price to close at N0.46 from the previous close of N0.51.

UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust and UAC Properties among other price decliners shed their share prices by 9.59% and 6.67% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Access Bank traded about 147.7 million units of its shares in 130 deals, valued at about N1.43 billion.
