Nigerian Bourse sheds N188bn as it closes lower by 0.60%, Monday

The Nigerian equities market on Monday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index dropped by 0.60%, closing at 26,691.09 points against the previous close of 26,851.68 points on last Friday.

The market capitalisation closed at N12.883 trillion, shedding N188 billion from the previous close of N13.071 trillion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks closed at 307.96 million units, valued at N2.54 billion in 4,609 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 16 stocks gained while 14 stocks declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Neimeth with 10% growth led 15 other gainers to close at N0.44 from the previous close of N0.40.

Jaiz Bank, Ikeja Hotel and Custodian Investment among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.86%, 9.47% and 9.09% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Wema Bank, FCMB and Caverton among other price decliners shed their share prices by 7.89%, 7.50% and 7.41% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • UACN traded about 102.55 million units of its shares in 89 deals, valued at N636.15 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 29.54 million units of its shares in 532 deals, valued at N555.84 million.
