Nigerian Bourse sheds N10bn, closes lower by 0.07%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed the first trading day of the week on a negative note as the All Share Index dropped by 0.07% to settle at 24,269.58 points against the previous close of 24,287.66 points on Friday.

Market Capitalisation closed at N12.660 trillion, down by 0.08% from the previous close of N12.670 trillion, thereby shedding N10 billion.

An aggregate of 305 million units of shares were traded in 3,258 deals, valued at N2.1 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 12 equities gained while 13 equities declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

GLAXOSMITH led other percentage gainers with 9.47% growth, closing at N5.20 from the previous close of N4.75.

Fidson, Linkage Assurance and Unity Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.43%, 9.37% and 8.89% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Neimeth Pharmaceuticals led other price decliners as it shed 10.00% of its share price to close at N1.35 from the previous close of N1.50.

Cutix Plc shed 9.89% of its share price to close at N1.64 from the previous close of N1.82.

CHAMS, LASACO, Sterling Bank and Ekobank Plc Honeywell are among other price decliners that shed not less than 2.00% of their share prices.

 

Volume Drivers

UBA traded about 70 million units of its shares in 157 deals, valued at about N442 million.

Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 37 million units of its shares in 255 deals, valued at N795 million.
