Nigerian Bourse sheds N1.85bn, closes lower by 0.01%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Wednesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index depreciated by 0.01% to settle at 39,303.09 points from the previous close of 39,305.48 points.

The market capitalization declined by 0.01% to close at N20.569 trillion from the previous close of N20.570 trillion, thereby shedding about N1.85 billion.

An aggregate of 259.512 million units of shares were traded in 3,547 deals, valued at N1.91 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 19 equities appreciated in their share prices while 23 equities declined in their share prices

Percentage Gainers

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance with 10.00% growth, led other gainers to close at 33 kobo from the previous close of 30 kobo

Portland Paints and Royal Exchange Plc among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.33% and 7.14% respectively.

Percentage Losers

FTN Cocoa led other price decliners as it shed its share price by 10% to close at 36 kobo from the previous close of 40 kobo.

Neimeth, International Breweries and PZ among other priced decliners also shed their share prices by 8.95%, 8.77% and 7.41% respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • FBNH traded about 69.478 million units of its shares in 243 deals, valued at N514.3 million.
  • Transcorp traded about 36.72 million units of its shares in 157 deals, valued at N32.97 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 16.58 million units of its shares in 365 deals, valued at N366.42 million.
