Market sheds N193bn as NGXASI dips by 0.92%

The equity market on Wednesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index depreciated by 0.92% to settle at 39,433.81 points from the previous close of 39,801.78 points.

The market capitalization declined by 0.93% to close at N20.637 trillion from the previous close of N20.830 trillion, thereby shedding N193 billion.

An aggregate of 349.56 million units of shares were traded in 4,554 deals, valued at N3.5 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 16 equities appreciated in their share prices against 21 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

  • LASACO led other gainers with 9.62% growth to close at N1.71 from the previous close of N1.56.
  • Linkage Assurance and Caverton among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.43% and 9.09% respectively.

Percentage Losers

  • Stanbic IBTC led other price decliners as it shed its share price by 10% to close at N45 from the previous close of N50.
  • CWG Plc and Unilever among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.61% and 8.21%.

Volume Drivers

  • FBNH traded about 71.28 million units of its shares in 262 deals, valued at N523.78 million.
  • Access Bank traded about 40.88 million units of its shares in 388 deals, valued at N309.95 million.
  • EKOCORP traded about 40 million units of its shares in 2 deals, valued at about N236 million.
