Investors gain N111bn as market advances by 0.52%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Friday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index appreciated by 0.52% to settle at 41,176.14 points from the previous close of 40,963.14 points. Investors gained N111bn as Market Capitalisation appreciated by 0.52% to close at N21.530 trillion from the previous close of N21.419 trillion.

An aggregate of 666.61 million units of shares were traded in 6,980 deals, valued at N6.396 billion.

The market breadth closed positive as 42 stocks appreciated in their share prices against 12 stocks that declined in their share prices.

Stocks to Watch

  • Access Bank grew to N9.70 from N9.50. It is currently trading 19.17% away from its 52 weeks high of N12. At that, there is uptrend potential in the share price of Access Bank. With the book value of N19.12, Access Bank is considered cheap at the current share price of N9.70.
  • FBN Holdings grew to N7.60 from N7.50. It is trading 15.56% away from its 52 weeks high of N9 which implies an uptrend potential for the share price of the big elephant. Considering its book value of N19.84, relative to the current share price of N7.60, it is obvious that FBNH is underpriced and has a lot of growth potential embedded in it.
  • Zenith Bank dropped to N26.30 from N26.40. It is trading 7.72% away from its 52 weeks high of N28.5. With the book value of N32.94, relative to the current share price of N26.30, Zenith Bank has a lot of uptrend potential.

Regency Assurance, Wapic Insurance and UACN gained 10% each to close at N0.33, N0.55 and N8.25 respectively.

Northern Nigeria Flour Mills and Livestock Feeds among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.94% and 9.90% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Daar Communications led other price decliners as it shed 10% of its share price to close at N0.27 from the previous close of N0.30.

Ardova Plc and May & Baker among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.84% and 5.71% respectively.

  • Japaul Gold traded about 115.83 million units of its shares in 332 deals, valued at N174.9 million.
  • Access Bank traded about 47.97 million units of its shares in 369 deals, valued at N461.74 million.
  • Mutual Benefit Assurance traded about 42.578 million units of its shares in 65 deals, valued at N17.88 million
