Equities market rises by 0.07%, investors gain N9bn

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index rose by 0.07% to settle at 22,616.28 points from the previous close of 22,599.38 points on Friday.

The Market Capitalisation appreciated by 0.08% to close at N11.787 trillion from the previous close of N11.778 trillion, thereby gaining N9 billion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks closed at 108 million units, down by 48.91% from the previous close of 211.62 million units.

Value of traded stocks was N1.33 billion, down by 40.35% from the previous close of N2.23 billion.

Total number of deals was 3,354, down by 15.24% from the previous close of 3,957 deals.

 

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 8 equities emerged as gainers while 14 equities declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

LASACO led other percentage gainers with 8.33% growth, closing at N0.26 from the previous close of N0.24.

Chams Plc, Oando and Guaranty Trust Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 4.76%, 3.91% and 3.63% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Nigerian Breweries led other price decliners, shedding 10% of its share price to close at N31.05 from the previous close of N34.50.

Skyway Aviation and Transcorp among other price decliners also shed 6.58% and 5.41% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

LASACO traded about 13.5 million units of its shares in in 10 deals, valued at N3.52 million.

Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 11.75 million units of its shares in 455 deals, valued at N228.99 million.

UBA traded about N11.02 million units of its shares in 154 deals, valued at N64.99 million.
