Investors gain N344bn as equities market sustains uptrend

Trading activities on the platform of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index rose further by 3.02% to settle at 22,539.94 points from the previous close of 21,879.95 points on Tuesday.

The market capitalisation likewise grew by 3. 02% to close at N11.747 trillion from the previous close of N11.403 trillion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks closed at 326.4 million units, down by 41.48 percent from the previous close of 557.8 million units.

The value of traded stocks was N3.34 billion, up by 27.56 percent from the previous close of N2.62 billion.

Total number of deals at the close of trade was 5,166, down by 2.71 percent from the previous close of 5,310 deals.

 

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 28 equities gained against 11 equities that declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Dangote Cement, Champions Breweries and Neimeth led other gainers with 10% to close at N133.10, N0.88 and N0.55 respectively.

Oando, Nigerian Breweries and Zenith Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.85%, 9.84% and 9.66% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Arbico Plc led other price decliners, shedding 9.82 percent of its share price to close at N2.57 from the previous close of N2.85.

Wema Bank and Cutix Plc among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.68% and 9.09% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

First Bank of Nigeria Holdings (FBNH) traded about 74.76 million units of its shares in 548 deals, valued at N354.24 million.

Zenith Bank traded about 72.10 million units of its shares in 877 deals, valued at N1.097 billion.

Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 36.77 million units of its shares in 580 deals, valued at N793.96 million.
