Equities market sheds more weight as NSEASI closes lower by 1.08%

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined further by 1.08% to close at 28,533.40 points against the previous close of 28,843.53 points on Friday.

 

The market capitalisation closed at N14.697 trillion, down by 1.08% from the previous close of N14.857 trillion, implying a loss of N 160 billion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks declined by 27.83% to close at 251.59 million units, from the previous close of 348.61 million units.

 

Value of traded stocks declined by 25.07% to close at N3.15 billion against the previous close of N4.2 billion.

 

Total number of deals at the close of trade was 4,752, up by 3.08% from the previous close of 4,610 deals.

 

Market Breadth

The market Breadth closed negative as 8 stocks gained while 24 stocks declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Law Union & Rocks Insurance led other percentage gainers with 10% growth to close at N0.77 from the previous close N0.70.

Honeywell Flour and UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.28% and 8.06% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

NCR Nigeria Plc led other price decliners, shedding its share price by 9.97% to close at N2.98 from the previous N3.31.

Forte Oil, Cadbury, Sterling Bank and Wapic Insurance among other price decliners shed their share prices by 9.95%, 9.77%, 9.24% and 9.09% respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • Zenith Bank traded about 47.52 million units of its shares in 642 deals, valued at N952.85 million.
  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 35.8 million units of its shares in 282 deals, valued at N1.06 billion.
