Wema Bank leads gainers as stock market advances by 0.17%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Friday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index appreciated by 0.17% to close at 42,014.50 points from the previous close of 41,943.83 points.

Investors gained N37 billion as the Market Capitalisation grew 0.17% to close at N21.926 trillion from the previous close of N21.889 trillion.

An aggregate of 277 million units of shares were traded in 3,524 deals, valued at N2.38 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 25 equities emerged as gainers against 13 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Wema Bank led other gainers with 10% growth, closing at N0.88 from the previous close of N0.80.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance and Royal Exchange among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.26% and 8.33% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Unilever led other price decliners as it sheds 6.32% of its share price to close at N13.35 from the previous close of N14.25.

Universal Insurance and NGX Group among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 4.55 and 4.31.% respectively.  

Volume Drivers

Sterling Bank traded about 83.56 million units of its shares in 53 deals, valued at N125.51 million.

FBNH traded about 52.6 million units of its shares in 269 deals, valued at N575.47 million.

Access Bank traded about 21.52 million units of its shares in 174 deals, valued at N203.48 million.
