Wema Bank declares N977.3m profit in three months

Wema Bank Plc on Wednesday published its First Quarter report for 2020 on the website of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

In the unaudited financial statement for the period ended 31, March 2020, the bank reported Gross Earnings of N20.78 billion, up by 4.64% when compared to the Gross Earnings of N19.85 billion in the First Quarter of 2019.

Profit after tax for the period under review was N977.3 million, down by 14.58% when compared to the profit after tax of N1.14 billion in the Q1 2019.

Using the ratio of profit after tax over outstanding number of shares of 38,574,466,082, the earnings per share (EPS) of Wema Bank for the period under review is evaluated as 3 kobo.

With reference to the share price of N0.57, the P.E ratio of Wema Bank is calculated as 22.50x with earnings yield of 4.44%.
