Stock market stays 0.19% afloat, buoyed by gains in Dangote Cement, others

The Nigerian stock market on Thursday stayed afloat on the gains in Dangote Cement and other stocks that closed the day higher.

The All Share Index grew by 0.19%, closing at 104,744.43 points from the previous close of 104,549.74 points on Wednesday.

Market capitalisation closed at N64.868 trillion, advancing by 0.54% from the previous close of N64.521 trillion, adding N347 billion.

An aggregate of 497 million units of shares were traded in 13,716 deals, valued at N11.8 billion.

Market Breadth

Market breadth closed positive as 39 stocks gained against 25 that lost.

Percentage Gainers

CHELLARAM and Honeywell Flour led other gainers growing by 10.00% each to close at N5.94 and N9.35 from the previous close of N5.40 and N8.50 respectively.  

Northern Nigeria Flourmill, Redstar Express and SKY AVIATION among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.98%, 9.89% and 9.89% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Guinea Insurance, RTBRISCOE and VERITAS KAPITAL shed 9.70%, 9.30% and 8.95% of their stock values respectively.

Volume Drivers

FBNH traded about 83 million units of its shares in 287 deals, valued at N2.4 billion.

VERITAS KAPITAL traded about 40 million units of its shares in 265 deals valued at N46.9 million.

Universal Insurance traded about 27 million units of its shares in 165 deals, valued at N19 million.
