Stock market sheds N622bn as 42 equities shed weight

Equity market investors lost about N622bn last week due to decline in the share prices of 42 equities.

The All Share Index and Market capitalization dropped by 1.08% and 1.05% to settle at 103,437.67 points and N58.498 trillion respectively. Year to date, the market has returned 38.33%.

An aggregate of 3.68 billion units of shares were traded in 40,724 deals, valued at N57.89 billion.

The market breadth closed negative as 31 stocks gained against 42 stocks that declined in their share prices.

TOP 10 GAINERS

CUTIX led other gainers in the course of last week with 22.69% growth, closing at N3.19 from the previous close of N2.60.

MORISON, May & Baker, CHAMS and Abbey Building grew their share prices by 20.45%, 19.09%, 15.63% and 14.46% respectively.

Other top 10 gainers include: Ikeja Hotel 13.53%, Dangote Sugar 13.46%, NGXGROUP 12.15%, University Press 9.84% and SCOA 9.69% respectively.

TOP 10 LOSERS

FBNH led other price decliners, shedding 14.21% of its share price to close at N30.50 from the previous close of N35.55.

Sterling Bank, Julius Berger, CWG and & I Leasing shed their share prices by 12.96%, 11.36%, 10.00% and 9.76% respectively.

Other price decliners include: THOMASWYAT (9.63%), TANTALIZER (9.52%), Secure electronic Technology (9.38%), Honeywell Flour (9.23%) and ABC Transport (9.09%) respectively.
