Stock market sheds N5bn as NGXASI dips by 0.02%

The Nigerian stock market on Monday closed on a bearish note as the All Share Index depreciated by 0.02% to close at 39,252.89 points from the previous close of 39,261.01 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.02% to close at N20.451 trillion from the previous close of N20.456 trillion, thereby shedding N5 billion.

An aggregate of 210.95 million units of shares were traded in 3,989 deals, valued at N1.384 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 15 equities appreciated in their share prices against 21 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Linkage Assurance led other gainers with 8.93% growth, closing at N0.61 from the previous close of N0.56.

FTN Cocoa, Mutual Benefits Assurance and Ecobank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.89%, 7.14% and 5.77% respectively.

Percentage Losers

GlaxSmith led other price decliners as it shed 9.56% of its share price, closing at N6.15 from the previous close of N6.80.

Consolidated Hallmark, Sovereign Trust Insurance and May & Baker among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 8.62%, 7.69% and 6.67% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Access Bank traded about 30.52 million units of its shares in 353 deals, valued at N282.14 million.

Mutual Benefit Assurance traded about 26.83 million units of its shares in 55 deals valued at N8 million.

Sovereign Trust Insurance traded about 21.38 million units of its shares in 36 deals, valued at N5.14 million.
