Stock market sheds N47bn, down by 0.16%

It was a bearish session on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Tuesday as the market resumed trading from Monday’s public holiday.

The All Share Index dropped by 0.16% to close at 53,113.64 points from the previous close of 53,201.38 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.16% to close at N28.634 trillion from the previous close of N28.681 trillion, thereby shedding N47 billion.

An aggregate of 300 million units of shares were traded in 5,394 deals, valued at N3 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 8 equities emerged as gainers against 25 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

LEARNAFRICA led other gainers with 9.72% growth to close at N2.37 from the previous close of 2.16.

Sunu Assurance and WAPIC among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.37% and 5.00% respectively.

Percentage Losers

CAP Plc led other price decliners as it shed 9.93% of its share price to close at N18.15 from the previous close of N20.15.

CAVERTON, Livestock feeds and TRANSCORP among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 7.83%, 6.25% and 5.07% respectively.

Volume Drivers

UBA traded about 47.7 million units of its shares in 211 deals, valued at N365 million.

TRANSCORP traded about 39 million units of its shares in 236 deals, valued at N52 million.

ACCESSCORP traded about 14 million units of its shares in 215 deals, valued at N140.9 million.
