Stock market closes lower by 0.09%, sheds N19bn

The Nigerian stock market on Wednesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.09% to close at 41,975.45 points from the previous close of 42,013.39 points.  

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.09% to close at N21.906 trillion from the previous close of N21.925 trillion, thereby shedding N19 billion.

An aggregate of 292.94 million units of shares were traded in 4,899 deals, valued at N2.06 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 13 equities emerged as gainers against 20 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Multiverse and Universal Insurance led other gainers with 10% growth, closing at N0.22 respectively.

Honeywell and Sterling Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.78% and 6.85% respectively.

Percentage Losers

LASACO led other price decliners as it sheds 9.40% of its share price to close at N1.06 from the previous close of N1.17.

Chams Plc and Sovereign Trust Insurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 8.33% respectively.  

Volume Drivers

FBNH traded about 58.61 million units of its shares in 521 deals, valued at N614.76 million.

Multiverse traded about 32.08 million units of its shares in 14 deals, valued at N6.44 million.

Mutual Benefit Assurance traded about 21.55 million units of its shares in 37 deals, valued at N5.26 million.
