Stock market closes lower by 0.02%, sheds N12bn

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Wednesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.02% to close at 43,245.02 points from the previous close of 43,255.14 points.

The Market Capitalisation closed at N22.565 trillion, down by 0.05% from the previous close of N22.577 trillion, thereby shedding N12 billion.

An aggregate of 243.185 million units of shares were traded in 3,777 deals, valued at N3.747 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 23 equities emerged as gainers against 18 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Living Trust Mortgage Bank led other gainers with 10% growth, closing at N0.88 from the previous close of N0.80.

Chams Plc and AIICO Insurance among other gainers also grew there share prices by 9.52% and 9.26% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Honeywell Flour led other price decliners as it shed 9.78% of its share price to close at N3.69 from the previous close of N4.09.

Eterna Plc and Regency Assurance among other price decliners also shed 9.02% and 7.69% of their share prices respectively.

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 37.41 million units of its shares in 352 deals, valued at N908.42 million.

FCMB traded about 27.44 million units of its shares in 90 deals, valued at N88.58 million.

Honeywell Flour traded about 22.86 million units of its shares in 262 deals, valued at N87.59 million.
