Otunba Oyin Jolayemi, OFR: Industrialist with giant strides

Otunba Matthew Oyin Jolayemi is a very successful Industrialist with over three decades of business experience. He is the Chairman of Daily-Need Group, a Fast Moving Consumer Goods firm involved manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, food and personal care products. Well informed of the intricacies of business and finance in Nigeria, Otunba Jolayemi has since 1972 made substantial investments in manufacturing and banking industries.

Widely respected in the business and financial world, Otunba Jolayemi was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration by Kensington University (USA) in 1991. His exposure in Industrial Management is closely linked with is global tour across the world including Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, U.S.A, the Middle East and Far East

The story of Daily-Need Group can be compared with a mustard seed that germinates and grows to become an OAK tree.

It all started as Daily-Need Chemist through the dream of Otunba (Dr.) Matthew Oyin Jolayemi, OFR in 1970. It was at 134, Nnamdi Azikiwe Street on Lagos Island. After two years of trading, manufacturing of cosmetics started in Surulere and the first product (PAULINA BEAUTY CREAM) was manufactured on the 19th November 1972, whilst pharmaceuticals were added the following year. The foray into pharmaceuticals commenced with the production of Penicillin Ointment.

The Organization made a giant stride in 1974 by moving into its factory in Matori, Lagos. That same year, Daily-Need Toothpaste was launched into the market for the first time, which was a landmark achievement for the company.

Daily-Need Group is repositioned as a market driven organization which is sensitive to the yearnings of the ordinary man with a solid foundation for future growth.

With the vision to be a world class manufacturing company producing premium daily need brands that command market leadership, Daily- Need Group has made effort is to create a positive impact on the health of the nation while making available premium brands to the society.

Daily-Need has been a major player in the Nigerian economy for over four decades. From a small enterprise in 1970, the Daily Need Group has grown into a large scale company ranking among the top pharmaceutical names in Africa. From the Penicillin Ointment, which was its  first product in 1970, the firm has extended to over 20 products categories.

The successful completion of the its Multi-Billion Naira Factory designed to NAFDAC, WHO & USFDA cGMP standards represents a major leap towards the realisation of the firms dream which has obviously positioned it for the best manufacturing practices and Quality Standard comparable to anywhere in the world.

Daily-Need Group also have two associated companies, namely DNI Personal Products Ltd, which makes the Daily Need Toothpaste and other personal products, and Oyin Industries Ltd, manufacturers of the Suppy Beef & Chicken Seasoning.

Daily-Need Group lay emphasis on its manpower, which it considers as best resources. The Board and Management of the group have consistently put the emotion and psyche of its staff and stakeholders as top priority.
