NSEASI sets for 5th straight days of gains, grew 1.58%,Thursday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stocks Exchange closed positive on Thursday, extending its winning streak to four consecutive days.

The All-Share Index grew 1.58 percent amidst sustained optimisms, with strong indications that the market might climb further to book its 5th straight gaining days on Friday.

The ASI closed at 39,042.11 points as against the 38,435.29 points it closed on Wednesday, adding a total of 606.82 points.

The market capitalisation also advanced by N22 billion, rounding up at N14.142 trillion against N13.922 trillion recorded in the previous trading session.

Volume and value of traded stocks appreciated by 25.16% and 14.19%, closing at 492.047million units and N7.621 billion respectively.

 

Market Breadth

Market Breadth closed positive as 29 stocks gained while 19 stocks lost.

Percentage gainers

NASCON led the gainers’ chart, gaining 10.07% of its share price to close at N22.40 away from the previous close of N20.35. Japaul Oil, Cadbury and C&I Leasing grew by 7.41%, 4.78% and 4.76% respectively ahead of other stocks on the gainers’ chart.

 

Percentage losers

Eterna oil led other 18 stocks on the losers’ chart, shedding 4.96% of its share price.This is followed by Continental Assurance, Prestige Assurance and RT Briscoe with loss of 4.67% and 4.17% respectively

 

Volume Drivers

Guaranty Trust Bank is the most actively traded stock for the day, trading about 106 million units of its share in 223 deals valued at about N4.46 billion
