Nigerian Bourse closes lower by 0.35%, Tuesday

The Nigerian equities market on Tuesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index closed lower by 0.35% to settle at 28,432.27 points against the previous close of 28,533.40 points on Monday.

The Market capitalisation also declined by 0.35% to close at N14.645 trillion against the previous close of N14.697 trillion, thereby shedding N52 billion at the close of the day trading.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks closed at 254.8 million units, up by 1.30% from the previous close of 251.5 million units.

The value of traded stocks was down by 3.44%, closing at N3.043 billion away from the previous close of N3.152 billion.

Total number of deals at the close of trade was 5,199, up by 9.41% from the previous close of 4,752 deals.

Market Breadth

The Market Breadth closed negative as 7 stocks gained while 23 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Wapic Insurance and Union Bank of Nigeria top the gainers’ list with 10.00% growth each to close at N0.33 and N6.60 from the previous close of N0.30 and N60.00.

Law Union, LASACO and TRANSCORP among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.09%, 3.85% and 2.06% respectively.

Percentage Losers

NEM Insurance and Royal Exchange led the price decliners’ list, shedding 10.00% of their share prices to close at N2.16 and N0.27 from the previous close of N2.40 and N0.30

Dangote Sugar, CHAMS and CAP Plc among other price decliners also shed more than 9.00%  of their share price at the close of trade today.

 

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 68 million units of its shares in 773 deals, valued at N1.3 billion.

FBNH traded about 32 million units of its shares in 408 deals, valued at N193 million.
