Nigerian Bourse sustains uptrend, closes higher by 0.04%

The Nigerian equities market on Thursday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index grew by 0.04% to settle at 26,426.20 points from the previous close of 26,415.54 points on Wednesday.

Market Capitalisation grew by 0.04% to close at N13.770 trillion from the previous close of N13.765 trillion, gaining N5 billion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks closed at 431.92 million units, up by 40.36% from the previous close of 387.9 million units.

Value of traded stocks grew by 178.89% to close at N7.8 billion from the previous close of NN2.8 billion.

Total number of deals at the close of trade was 4,518, up by 2.24% from the previous close of 4,419 deals.

 

Market Breadth

The market Breadth closed positive as 24 stocks gained while 11 stocks declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

  • Chams Plc led other percentage gainers with 10% growth, closing at N0.22 from the previous close of N0.20.
  • Stanbic IBTC, Skyway Aviation, Cutix Plc, UAC Properties, Ecobank and NPF Microfinance Bank among other gainers grew their share prices by 9.85%, 9.83%, 9.60%, 9.41%, 9.32% and 9.20% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Glaxosmith led other price decliners, shedding 9.52% of its share price to close at N3.80 from the previous close of N4.20.

Jaiz Bank, NEM Insurance and Eterna Plc among other price decliners shed their share prices by 8.20%, 7.49% and 7.34% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 75.79 million units of its shares in 644 deals, valued at N1.89 billion.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 62.75 million units of its shares in 748 deals, valued at N1.25 billion.
