Nigerian Bourse slides, Shedding N68bn, Tuesday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Tuesday closed in red as the All Share Index dropped by 0.51% to close at 27,527.40 points against the previous close of 27,669.38 points on Monday.

Market Capitalisation declined by 0.50% to close at N13.415 trillion against the previous close of N13.483 trillion, shedding N68 billion.

Aggregate volume and value of traded stocks closed at 170 million units and valued at N2.2 billion in 3,614 deals.

Market Breadth

Market Breadth closed negative as 6 stocks gained while 23 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

May & Baker led 5 other gainers with 4.35% growth to close at N2.40 from the previous close of N2.30

Other few stocks on the gainers chart include: United Capital, Sterling Bank, CCNN, Access Bank and WAPCO.

Percentage Losers

The long list of price decliners today is led by Beta Glass, shedding 9.95% of its share price after closing the day’s trading at N59.75 below the previous close of N66.35

Stocks that lost not less than 8.00% of their share prices at the end of today’s trading session among the rest are:  Continental Reinsurance, CADBURY, LAWUNION and CAVERTON.

Volume Drivers

Guaranty Bank traded about 17 million units of its shares in 220 deals, valued at about N488 million.
