Nigerian Bourse slides further by 1.85%, Wednesday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed in red as the All Share Index declined further by 1.85% to close at 29,668.73 points against the previous close of 30,226.77 points on Tuesday.

Market Capitalisation was down by 1.84% to close at N11.144 trillion against the previous close of N11.353 trillion, shedding N209 billion.

Aggregate volume and value of traded stocks closed at 542.58 million units and N5.66 billion in 4,146 deals.

Market Breadth

Market Breadth closed negative as 8 stocks gained while 26 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

Nigerian Breweries led other gainers with 5.45% growth to close at N60 from the previous close of N56.9

Other gainers include Cornerstone Insurance, Sovereign Trust Insurance, Sterling Bank, Nestle, Fidelity Bank, Oando and Livestock Feeds.

Percentage Losers

Access Bank and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance top the price decliners’ list, both shedding 10% of their share prices. This is followed by AIICO Insurance and Neimeth, shedding 9.86% and 9.75% respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • Sterling Bank traded about 144.2 million units of its shares in 85 deals, valued at about N348.93 million.
