Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday closed in red as the All Share Index fell by 1.55% to close at 26,115.80 points against the previous close of 26,526.35 points on Friday.
Market capitalisation declined by 1.54%, shedding N197 billion to close at N12.607 trillion against the previous close of N12.804 trillion.
Aggregate volume of traded stocks declined by 44.74%, closing at 188.79 million units against the previous close of 341.6 million units on Friday.
Value of traded stocks grew by 3.96%, to close at N2.43 billion from the previous close of N2.34 billion.
At the close of trade, total number of deals was down by to close at 2,605 against the previous close of 2,949 deals on Friday.
The Oil & Gas sector and Insurance sector closed higher by 0.62% and 0.45% respectively.
Banking, Industrial and Consumer Goods sectors declined by 0.82%, 0.31% and 0.18% respectively.
Market Breadth
The market Breadth closed positive as 17 stocks gained while 14 stocks declined in their share prices.
Percentage Gainers
Low cap stocks dominated the gainers list as A.G Leventis and Japaul Oil both led other gainers with 10% growth.
NAHCO, Linkage Assurance and Jaiz Bank among others also grew their share prices by 8.96%, 8.16% and 6.06%.
Percentage Losers
Cornerstone Insurance, Transcorp Hotel and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated among other price decliners shed their share prices by 9.52%, 9.26% and 9.09% respectively.
Volume Drivers
UBA traded about 32.17 million units of its shares in 182 deals, valued at about N215.8 million.
Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 26.33 million units of its shares in 117 deals, valued at about N777.96 million.
Access Bank traded about 24.99 million units of its shares in 179 deals, valued at about N238.8 million.
