Nigerian Bourse halts seven straight losing days, gains 0.95%, Friday

The Nigerian Bourse after seven straight losing sessions, rebounds as the All Share Index grew 0.95%, closing at 32,327.59 points from the previous close of 32,022.23 points on Thursday.

Market capitalisation also grew by 0.95% to settle at N11.802 trillion as against the previous close of N11.691 trillion.

Other market indicators also closed in green as the total traded volume and value of shares grew by 45.31% and 27.50%, settling at 252.189 million units and N4.732 billion respectively.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 21 stocks gained as against 16 stocks that lost.

Percentage Gainers

Nigerian Breweries led other percentage gainers, closing at N92.5 with a growth 9.99% from the previous close of N84.1

Honeywell Flour grew 9.45% to close at N1.39 from the previous close of N1.27.

Unity Bank, Transcorp and Diamond Bank grew 9.41%, 8.85% and 8.4% respectively among others.

Percentage Losers

CCNN tops the losers’ chart losing 9.96% of its share price to close at N22.6 from the previous close of N25.1.

Linkage Assurance and AG Leventis also shed 9.23% and 9.09% respectively among others on the losers’ chart.

Volume Drivers

  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 68.7 million units of its shares in 294 deals, valued at about N2.3 billion
  • Zenith Bank traded about 51.8 million units of its shares in 365 deals, valued at about N1.038 billion.
