Nigerian Bourse gains N68bn, closes 0.57% higher, Monday

The Nigerian Stock Exchange opened the week on a positive note after the presidential election on Saturday as the All Share Index grew by 0.57% to close at 32,700.12 points from the previous close of 32,515.52 points on Friday.

Market capitalisation closed at N12.194 trillion, gaining N68 billion from the previous close of N12.126 trillion last Friday.

Aggregate volume and value of traded stocks closed at 219.8 million units and N5.549 billion in 2,999 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 25 stocks gained against 8 stocks that lost.

Percentage Gainers

Dangote Flour with 9.95% growth led other percentage gainers to close at N11.05 from the previous close of N10.05. This is followed by ABC Transport and Veritas Kapital, gaining 9.62% and 9.52% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Only eight stocks declined in their share prices at the close of trade today. Union Diagnostics led the losers’ chart, shedding 6.45% of its share price. Others include Total, Cutix Plc, Flour Mills, Access Bank, First Bank of Nigeria Holding (FBNH), Fidelity Bank and PZ.

Volume Drivers

  • Nigerian Breweries traded about 40.7 million units of its shares valued at about N3.55 billion in 78 deals.
  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 19.2 million units of its shares valued at about N733.88 million in 221 deals.
