For four straight trading sessions this week, the Nigerian Bourse has been on a downward trend as the All Share Index on Monday declined by 0.46%; on Tuesday, it declined further by 1.14%; on Wednesday, it was down by 0.48%. At the end of trading activities today (Thursday), the All Share Index declined further by 1.33%, closing at 30,611.55 points from the previous close of 31,023.47 points.
Market capitalisation declined by 1.32% to close at N11.176 trillion against the previous close of N11.326 trillion, shedding N150 billion.
Volume of traded stocks grew by 100.37% to close at 441.6 million units against the previous close of 220.4 million units.
Value of traded stocks grew by 63.58% to close at N4.46 billion against the previous close of N2.73 billion
The Insurance and Consumer Goods sectors closed higher by 3.09% and 0.05% respectively while Banking, Oil & Gas and Industrial sectors declined by 1.79%, 0.05% and 2.14% respectively.

Market Breadth closed negative as 12 stocks gained against 23 stocks lost.
Percentage Gainers
Veritas Kapital led other percentage gainers, gaining 10% to close at N0.22 from the previous close of N0.2
Ikeja Hotel, Mutual Benefit Assurance, Access Bank, Continental Reinsurance and Mansard grew 9.80%, 8.70%, 7.14%, 6.95% and 6.32% respectively among others on the gainers’ list.
Percentage Losers
ABC Transport tops the losers’ chart, shedding 9.68% of its share price to close at N0.28 from the previous close of N0.31. Diamond Bank shed 9.59% of its share price to close at N0.66 from the previous close of N0.73.
Jaiz Bank and John Holt both shed 9.09% of their share prices respectively; Livestock Feeds, FCMB, Law Union & Rock Insurance and Cadbury also shed 8.77%, 8.33%, 6.0%, and 5.0% among others on the decliners’ list.
Volume Drivers
- Stanbic IBTC traded about 43.9 million units of its shares valued at about N2.2 billion in 26 deals.
