Seplat leads other gainers as equity market rises by 1.04%

The Nigerian equity market on Wednesday closed higher buoyed by gains in 18 stocks led by Seplat Petroleum as the All Share Index grew by 1.04% to stand at 25,141.48 points against the previous close of 24,883.700 points on Tuesday.

The market capitalisation closed at N13.115 trillion, up by N134 billion from the previous close of N12.981 trillion.

Aggregate volume closed at 204.9 million units, valued at N3.8 billion in 3,636 deals.

 

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 18 stocks gained against 11 that declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Seplat Petroleum with 10.00% growth, led other gainers to close at N385.00 from the previous close of N350.00.

CADBURY and Airtel Africa among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.93% and 9.20% respectively ahead of other 15 stocks that pushed the market to a higher close at the end of today’s trading session.

 

Percentage Losers

Champion Breweries, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance and Mutual Benefits among others 8 stocks shed their share prices by 9.30%, 8.11% and 4.46% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Guaranty traded about 66 million units of its shares in 329 deals, valued at N1.6 billion.
  • Access Bank traded about 24 million units of its shares in 165 deals,valued at N155 million.
  • Zenith Bank Traded about 15 million units of its shares in 322 deals, valued at N255 million.
