Market stays 0.95% afloat, buoyed by gains in 25 stocks

The Nigerian Bourse resumes the week on a positive note, making it the second straight gains in the second trading day for the new month as the All Share Index grew 0.95%, closing at 32,129.94 points from the previous close of 31,827.24 points on Friday.

Market capitalisation closed at N11.981 trillion, advancing by 0.94% from the previous close of N11.869 trillion, adding N112 billion.

Volume and value of traded stocks dropped by 33.18% and 30.31%, settling at at 228 million units and N2.6 billion from Friday’s 341 million units and N 3.7 billion  respectively.

Market Breadth

There was a balanced breadth at end of the day’s trading as 25 stocks gained against 10 that lost.

Percentage Gainers

MCNICHOLS led other percentage gainers, closing 9.80% above its previous close of N0.51 to settle at N0.56. This is followed by CUTIX, which grew 9.76%. NPF Microfinance bank, Wema Bank and Sovereign Insurance also closed the day in green above others stocks on the chart.

Percentage Losers

PZ, livestock and Consolidated Hallmark shed their share prices by 9.67%, 8.96% and 7.14% respectively to lead others 7 stocks on the losers chart

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 28 million units of its shares in 451 deals, valued at about N703million.
