Market drops 0.37%, Shedding N41bn, Monday

The Nigerian stock market on Monday declined yet again from the previous trading session as the All Share Index dropped 0.37% to close at 29,936.33 points against 30,046.70 points recorded on Friday.

Market capitalization dipped by 0.31% to settle at N13.192 trillion below N13.233 trillion of the last trading session, indicating a loss of N41 billion.

Volume and value of traded stocks grew by 1872.06% and 38.53%, standing at 2.8 billion units and N3.9 billion respectively.

 

Market Breadth

16 stocks closed positive against 20 that closed negative, bringing the market breadth to a negative round off.

Percentage Gainers

Prestige Assurance led other percentage gainers closing 10.00% above the previous close of N0.50 to settle at N0.55

Forte Oil grew 9.86%, WAPIC and COURTVILLE gained 9.76% and 9.52% of their share prices ahead of other stocks on the gainers’ chart

Percentage Losers

Royal Exchange tops the losers’ chart, losing 8.33% of its share price. Also on the red chart are NAHCO, THOMAS WYATT, Oando, UCAP and LASACO all shedding not less than 3% of their share prices for the day.

Volume Drivers

Wema traded the highest volume of about 2.6 billion units of its shares in 82 deals, valued at about N1.7 billion.

Zenith traded about 15 million units of its shares in 299 deals, worth about N315 million.
